My dad

1951 July - 2018 April

Created by Clare 6 years ago

Dad was born the 3rd July 1951 in Brighton he was the son of Hilda and Bo and dad had 3 brothers John Ron and Colin Dad was the youngest.

Dad lived in Clarke avenue with his family, and Dad was known as snowball because he had very blonde hair like snow.

Dad used to tell me funny stories from his childhood the time him and grandad on bonfire night was doing a firework and it went off and it went through the window and nanny was making spotty dick and the firework went off and the whole of the spotty dick went every where dad and grandad were in trouble.

Another time was when dad posted his school plimsols in a postbox to get out of pe but dad didn’t realise nanny had put his address in them so they got posted back to their house.

Dad loved his football at the age of 5 dad went to his first Brighton match and he loved it ever since, sadly when dad was 20 dad had a nasty car accident on his way back from a football match and he had to remain in Hospital for a long time and he was visited by all the Brighton players including dads hero John kniper.

Then at the goldstone ground dad met mum and they started talking and dad asked her out and mum agreed and on the 23rd July 1977 mum and dad got married and there’s a funny story about this in the April before mum and dad got married dad had broken his ankle and grandad said he would be on crutches walking down the aisle but instead 2 weeks before the wedding grandad had a folk lift truck go over his foot so it was grandad on crutches not dad.

Then on the 2nd October 1979 mum gave birth to a baby girl and I was born and dad was very proud.

When I gave birth to my daughter Louisa dad and mum was over the moon dad was so proud he shouted for joy and said I am a proud grandfather cause I have a lovely granddaughter.

Then the day dad met Paul my new partner and he was so so proud he told Paul thank you for making his little girl happy again.

In July 2017 dad and mum celebrated 40 years of marriage and I organised a party for them Paul and I did a lovely photo frame of their wedding photos.

Dad was such a lovely husband to my mum and a lovely grandad to Louisa and  Paul was the closest thing to a son in law to him but most of all he was my dad but to every one he was your friend always had a smile to share.

You will never ever be forgotten cause you will always always be here in our hearts I love you my dad sleep tight.
